Ruruka x Seiko, 162 words.
Seiko could apologise. She could say yes, she was wrong, it was all because she was jealous of Ruruka. She could tell the lies that would stroke Ruruka’s ego, and maybe Ruruka would forgive her.
But she wanted Ruruka to believe her. Seiko had wasted so many words of honesty because Ruruka refused to believe her. She didn’t refuse to eat Ruruka’s sweets to spite her. She hadn’t given Ruruka the wrong medicine to spite her. After everything she’d done for Ruruka …
She couldn’t bring herself to apologise, even if it would bring Ruruka back. Because she’d always know it meant that Ruruka hadn’t believed in her.
Was it really so easy for Ruruka to think that Seiko hated her? After all the time they’d spent together? After everything Seiko had done to show her how she felt?
But she hadn’t done just what Ruruka wanted, so it wasn’t enough.
Seiko wouldn’t apologise. But she still found herself wishing that she could.
